The David L. Boren 2009-10 scholarship competition provides opportunities for exceptional U.S. students planning study abroad (summer 2011, fall 2011, spring 2012) to become more knowledgeable about the cultures and proficient in the languages of world regions critical to U.S. security interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The Boren Scholarship is designed to provide U.S. students with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation, in exchange for a commitment to seek work in the federal government (Department of State, Homeland Security, Department of Defense or the Intelligence Community).

The UNH campus deadline for the completed application is December 15, 2010. In addition to attending an information session, interested students should attend visit http://www.borenawards.org/ to learn more about the program. Campus interviews will be held in late January or early February 2011 in preparation for the February 10, 2011 national deadline.
